What Controls Your Mind and Thoughts?
So, you want to know the things that control your mind. The truth is, your thoughts just 'are.'
It's part of being human. We have thousands of them every single day that come and go. Frequently, people will believe that their thoughts are controlling them and that they cannot change them.
But that's not true…
Some of your thoughts aren't even your own. See them as a frequency or energy. Ultimately, you have a couple of choices.
1. Conscious thoughts
Conscious thoughts are those that you focus on intentionally. This requires you to exercise the mental muscles and focus on things that you want to focus on. (Hint: If you're going to make significant shifts in your life, you must decide to focus on what is wanted consciously.)
2. Unconscious thoughts
These are deeply rooted and have become part of your habitual way of life. Unconscious thought patterns are part of what makes up the way you live; your personality.
Dr. Joe Dispenza talks about creating a new mind and personality through your thoughts in his fantastic book, 'Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself.' I highly recommend it!
(On a side note, if you love gaining knowledge from books, but simply don't have the time to read as much as you'd like, Blinkist offers a solution to this. You can check them out with free trial. It's a platform to listen to or read book summaries. They cover the most significant parts of the books into shorter summaries. You can check them out here for your free trial)
Don't let your thoughts control you
Based on what we've just discussed, you might be thinking that unconscious thoughts are bad and conscious thoughts are good (if we want them to be.)
Now here's the thing…
If you consciously focus on what you want, over time, this will influence the subconscious and begin to reprogram your mind. This means that if you're going to change your life, you have to start by changing your thoughts.
But what if you feel like your mind is out of control?
How To Master Your Mind Techniques
One of the best ways to shift your focus and create something new is to create some space.
If you needed to buy a bunch of new clothes, would you create some space in your wardrobe to make room for the ones? Or would you just keep squashing them in until it gets ridiculous? Hopefully, you'd create some space.
This is the approach we want to have to soften some of that mental noise. We can do this in several ways. Here are some of my favorites.
Meditation
Meditation is a practice that allows you to disconnect from the outside world and find some inner peace or clarity.
You don't need to try and change anything during a meditation, simply relax and focus on your breathing. I know that many of you have probably tried and given up because it can feel challenging at first. If you struggle and would like to optimize your meditation, you can use a fantastic product and let technology help you. The Muse headbands are perfect for this.
Over time, you will get better at this practice.
What about my circumstances and other people?
It's common for us to become reactive and sensitive to other people's opinions, thoughts, and projections.
A person can say the slightest comment, and it explodes in our face. Without getting into too much detail on that now, I created a separate post on this topic.
Taking Control Of Your Mind
To develop your mind, you will want to focus on using some of the gifts that you were born with. These are your six mental faculties.
- Intuition
- Imagination
- Will
- Perception
- Reason
- Memory
To learn more about how you can master these, I would recommend checking out a program from a mentor of mine, Bob Proctor. It's called ‘Magic In Your Mind.’ I can honestly say that this man has made an impact on my life like nobody else.
You Must Watch Out For That Inner Voice
When you're supposed to get up earlier in the morning, and it tells you, "5 more minutes."
The day you planned to work out, and it says, "I’m a bit tired today. Maybe It’s worth waiting until tomorrow when I have more energy.”
That voice will continuously try and keep you comfortable and to play it safe in life. But the problem is, life is always moving. Nothing ever stays the same. To create life on our terms, we must break free from our fears.

Conclusion
In the end, we can choose to create a life we want by focusing on what feels right. We don’t have to let our circumstances, other people, or our past experiences control the way we think and live.
What will you decide?
To create your life by design, or to live by default?
