5 Mindset Habits for Personal Transformation

Sometimes, we feel so stuck in our lives because we cannot find the magic pill that will change it all.

You go through your daily routine with a scattered state of mind, unable to see that everything you need is already there.

It’s not a magic pill or far-fetched fantasy that will change your life, but your ability to consistently perform daily habits.

Most people already recognize the importance of this, but that doesn’t mean they do anything about it.

Habits aren’t easy to change with straight-up action, which is why many people struggle to make lasting changes.

You think one way and act another.

There’s a mismatch between mind and body.

Today, I want to share with you 5 mindset habits that will change your life.

Habit 1 - Spending time alone to think

This breaks down into 2 separate parts.

1. Time to be silent
2. Time to think

They complement each other.

Many of us need a phone, laptop, TV show, or some other distraction to get through our day.

That’s the reality of living in this modern, tech/AI-based world.

And, as an introvert, this isn’t a always problem for me. I love this work and I’m curious about psychology, behaviour, and reinventing myself.

I was on a train the other day and noticed that everyone had their heads buried in their phones. Not because I was judging, but because I was genuinely curious. Sometimes, it’s good to observe.

It seems challenging for us to still and to be in silence. To let our minds wander and to consciously think about what we want.

It’s no surprise why so many people feel lost, scattered in their minds, and stressed.

I’ve been finding tremendous clarity and focus by giving myself some time each day to disconnect and open my mind.

I invite you to try this for yourself if you wish to.

You may be thinking, “I don’t have the time for that”. There is time, you just have to find it and value it enough to make it work.

This leads us perfectly to the second habit.

Habit 2 - Procrasti-learning vs intentional learning

Using learning as a form of procrastination.

This is something that I have struggled with a LOT.

During my desire to have more mental clarity and space to think, I identified a possible opportunity to create that space…

My walking time.

Killing 2 birds with one stone.

As an avid self-improvement and wellness lover, I LOVE going for walks and listening to podcasts or audiobooks.

The problem is, sometimes it just becomes a form of procrastination or maybe, procrasti-learning.

How can you take in all the ideas and implement them? It rarely ever happened to me. This is something that you’ll need to notice within yourself.

Any spare time I had to listen, watch, or read something, I took it. This may sound like a positive thing, and it is in many ways. However, it’s up to you to recognize the reasoning behind why you’re doing it.

I decided to experiment by not listening to anything on many of my walks. And to consciously think about my goals, challenges, or important things in my life.

Ultimately, I wanted to allow myself some free space to just be.

It felt great.

I received more clarity, better focus, and better ideas.

If you feel scattered, it’s too loud inside your head.
You cannot hear the whispers within.
The whispers from within are the message from your soul.
To hear them, you must create a calm and open space to listen.

In other words, your soul already knows what it wants. The messages are already been expressed. All you have to do is create the space and silence to hear them.

Sometimes, we don’t need the next idea, book, or shiny object - We just need some space to think and relax our minds.

Habit 3 - Focusing on your inner world

I truly believe that this particular habit alone is responsible for transforming your entire life, and if you can implement it, there’s no going back.

The kicker is this…

Without a doubt, one of the hardest things for many people to do is to focus their attention, energy, and emotion on the desire for what they want when everything in their physical reality shows something different.

  • A desire for more money only to be reminded of unpaid bills.
  • A desire for more health and energy only to be reminded of poor sleeping habits and waking up with a sore back.
  • A desire to find a meaningful connection only to be reminded your confidence is low and you don’t want to get hurt again.

But when you can begin to implement this work, magical things do happen.

Many of the great teachers, philosophers, and thought leaders knew this.

As Neville Goddard said, Feeling is the secret.

James Allen famously quoted in his book, As a Man Thinketh - He thinks in secret, it comes to pass, the environment is but a looking glass.

Wallace D Wattles refers to the thinking stuff from which all things are made.

Thoughts become things.

Habit 4 - Calling out your own BS

The way to stop limiting yourself in life is to call the truth on your own BS.

Specifically, I’m talking about self-limiting beliefs, self-sabotaging behaviours, and the false stories that you’re telling yourself.

For example:

I’m not in shape because…..

The reason I haven’t achieved my financial goal yet is because…

I’m not where I want to be in life because…

After “because” comes the story you keep telling.

For many people, these stories are negative and extremely limiting.

Here’s a harsh truth.

If you haven’t achieved a specific thing, it’s because you haven’t done what it takes to make it happen.

1. Learn the skill / Acquire the knowledge
2. Seek support
3. Take consistent action
4. Learn, modify, and take more action
5. Achieve result

No, you’re not too:

old, young, big, small, short, tall, fat, thin, wise, stupid, etc.

You just have to become who you need to become, to do what you want to do, to have what you want to have.

Habit 5 - Listening to audio affirmations

Not only is this fun and inspiring, but it’s extremely effective.

Think about it…

When you’re younger, you take on many different beliefs and views about the world. On top of that, you form a view of yourself.

And it isn’t always positive.

  • Getting picked last for the sports team and you take it as “I’m not good enough”
  • Do poorly on a school test and you identify as “being dumb”
  • Get rejected by someone and you think “I’m not attractive enough/good enough”

For most of us, there’s lots to undo and rewire.

Listening to audio affirmations is a way to reverse all of those years of negative programming to override the subconscious mind with some new empowering suggestions.

Practical steps

  • Make time each day to disconnect and allow some space into your mind. You can walk, meditate, do some breathwork, or simply relax in silence.
  • Use a pen and paper, or a digital notebook to track and important insights or thoughts that may arise. You can decide later if you’d like to do anything with them.
  • Spend time each day to tap into the vision and feelings of your desired goals.
  • Consider your self-help indulging to be taken more seriously, with intention. What do you want to take from this? How can you apply it? When will you apply it?
  • Identify the challenges in your life and make a list of your stories. Begin to search for evidence to prove the opposite to be true. This will start to shift the beliefs. Speed up the process with affirmations.
